Think your local Costco or Walmart is pretty large? Well think about this... Chicago's 12 story "Old Main Post Office" was built in 1921(and remodeled in 1932) was built on 50 acres
of land and even had a road leading through its center. Why so big? Well before online shopping was prevalent, there were large "mail order" catalog companies based in Chicago, Illinois.
Their business demanded such a large post office. The largest operational post office is the James A. Farley Post Office in New York.
